With this redesign I set out to modernize the look of the classic 1963 novel while paying homage to the author herself, the content of the story, and the covers that have come before. Inspired by the famous fig tree quote, this edition uses fig imagery throughout, including original fig and fig leaf illustrations as chapter headings and page number embellishments created to honor Sylvia Plath's own illustrative style. Did you know she wasan artist as well as a writer? Her artwork spans many styles, but these illustrations were meant to emulate her nature studies.
